It's like college all over again. "Enrolled" in a local gym yesterday, and I've already blown off the first class. Time to flex the ol' procrastination muscles into overdrive.

Lindsay and I signed up for the $10 a month membership ($11 really, for the added benefit of working out at the gym in East Providence; the one not 100 feet away from our backyard), and the place is actually pretty cool looking. I'm not sure about the treadmill/elliptical arrangement. They're aligned in two long rows, with the treadmills situated three feet behind the ellipticals. This means I'll either be incredibly distracted while running, or incredibly paranoid about the guy running behind me while ... ellipticalling? Flailing in a machine controlled fashion?

Men. It's like we're all just pieces of meat to them.

For what reason did you guys not go with the one you could roll over to?

The set up is part of the reason I never really did the gym thing in college. I don't really know how to work the things and I certainly don't work out. I feel like people will point and laugh when I do something dumb... like fall off when trying to get on. Too bad there aren't good, affordable gyms, where no one else goes to them...

Oh we do, we just have the privilege of also going to the Providence one, which we don't.

The great part about the 24 hour open gym is you can go at midnight, and there are 3 people there. Great time to experiment on the equipment. :) I won't use new things if people are watching me... with their eyes!

Ahhh! Makes sense. I think that would be my preferred time of going as well. When others couldn't witness the flailing I'd refer to as exercising.

I am so going to beat you!

You'll have to catch me first, and I run very fast!

I wish you luck with your working out/treadmilling ventures! When I find the motivation to hop on ours, my dog sits next to me and tries to grab my sneakers while I'm running -- I'm afraid there will come a day I get too distracted (read: laugh too hard) that I will fly off and hit the wall.

It sounds like a really good membership plan (at least in comparison to those I've heard around here) so that's pretty cool.

The dogs go nuts too! They indeed try to herd us, it is the funniest thing. Oh corgis.

You don't have tennis balls attached to your sneakers by chance? ;)

LOL!

Hahaha, I can only imagine if I did. I'd be splattered on the wall and Marley would be like "LOL I GOT THE BALL GUYZ" XD
Lindsaybluepony0628 on February 19th, 2011 02:32 am (UTC)
HAHA I can totally picture that!

Heh, Scully tried that once and got kicked in the head for her efforts. Unfortunately all the sympathetic attention she got afterwards only encouraged her.

I'm going to pay for this, but, one time Lindsay was goofing around on the treadmill, slipped, and got folded in half by the thing. :p

Hahaha, Marley's avoided that so far; I don't know whether to discourage him or not. I shooed him away and he shredded a towel in revenge.

Ouch! Coordination is not one of my skills, so I'm just keeping my fingers crossed I avoid such things, haha.

I did, and he had it against the wall. Brilliant I tell you.

I can't believe you found a gym membership for that cheap. Jealous fo sho.

The guy went for the hard sale with the $20 Platinum membership, but we weren't falling for that. I suspect that's why our free tee shirts were several sizes too large. :p
